CUSTOMER ADVISORY
May 7, 2009
TSA MANDATE FOR INCREASED CARGO SCREENING, DRIVES AGS'
NEW SECURITY SURCHARGE PROGRAM - EFFECTIVE MAY 18, 2009.
On February 1, 2009 the Transportation Security Administration
(TSA) implemented a new congressional mandate pertaining
to security of air cargo on passenger aircraft. The
new mandate entails increased security procedures for
cargo originating within the United States and its territories.
We want to assure you we have worked closely with our
airline partners and with the TSA to comply with the
new regulations. Through joint investments in
technology, training and new procedures made by AGS
and our airline partners; we are pleased to advise
you that we are meeting the new congressional mandate.
As a result of the new security procedures the
airlines are now applying security and screening
surcharges, this fee includes a per pound charge subject
to a minimum. It is AGS' intention to absorb
the internal training, operational sorting and security
management expenses that we are incurring, and to
only pass through the airline surcharge of 6 cents a
pound subject to a minimum charge of $ 6.00 per shipment.
This new security surcharge is effective Monday, May
18, 2009; it will apply on all Overnight, Second Day,
Three Day shipments that move in air and expedited service.
We appreciate your understanding of the need to comply
with these enhanced security procedures mandated by
the U.S. Congress and the Transportation Security Administration.
