Frequently Asked Questions...
1. I don't have
any experience in freight transportation.
What type of training is available?
Associated maintains seven training centers around the country.
These are our actual freight terminals where you can work with
the District Manager and our service and sales personnel and watch
the day-to-day operation. In addition, we have a thorough web-based
training where you can view the program at home as it's interactive
and very thorough. Beyond this initial training, there are constant
updates on our web training program and also on our intranet.
In addition, there are always experts within the company available
to answer questions any time almost on a 24x7 basis.
2. What is the support
system in place to assist me on a day-to-day basis?
Associated maintains a 24x7 call center always staffed with
a supervisor and experts in every mode of transportation. In addition
to contacting the Associated station that is closest to you and
where you have probably received your training, you can contact
the nationwide call center manager at any time of the day or night.
To supplement this, we have specialists at our general office
in the New York area in claims and insurance and every aspect
of freight and logistics that you can contact at any time.
3. I have experience in freight sales.
What type of rates do you have and is there any flexibility?
We have a standard rate structure for every service that we
offer. In domestic we have a tariff for same day, overnight, second
day, three day, 4-5 day, LTL, truckload and international service.
We also have rates in place for every mode of transportation.
These are what we call our standard rates and we have a discount
percentage on each of these standard rates based on the anticipated
volume of the prospect or customer that is being called on...
In addition, we are very flexible in doing specialized rates based
on the needs of the customer and anticipated volume in the future.
4. What type of investment is required?
There is no initial investment required by the company if you
are selected as an independent sales agent or a sales agency arrangement.
The only investment would be in your time to begin developing
the business and your expenses associated with sales.
5. Do I need a facility?
No you do not need a facility. You can work directly out of
an Associated facility or one of Associated's agent's facilities
or in your home office. The only time you would require a facility
is if you wanted to be an exclusive agency in an open city, then
that would require a facility and staffing expense.
