Associated Global Systems Innovates Multi-Benefit Inbound Shipping Program for Purchasing Managers
NEW HYDE PARK, NY; March 28, 2000

Associated Global Systems (AGS), a 40 year old full service provider of transportation and logistics services worldwide, has launched a new program for purchasing managers, materials managers and production managers who are responsible for controlling freight coming into their company facilities.

Named The AGS Inbound Procurement Program, it is described by Associated as the first single source solution for cost-effective, time-definite delivery of materials, components and supplies from any zip code in the US or any country in the world.

Instead of interfacing with countless vendors who may pick their own carriers and set their own schedules, a purchasing manager in the Inbound Procurement Program deals only with assigned AGS personnel. They manage all vendors on his behalf, monitoring orders and enforcing routing guidelines that he has established, to insure accurate, on-time deliveries at the lowest possible cost.

In addition to the significant direct cost savings that the program delivers through volume discounts and timelier routing, AGS cites important indirect savings – through strategies like JIT (Just-in-Time) delivery that lower material/component storage and carrying costs, by facilitating more accurate production scheduling and increased productivity, and by reducing internal manpower and MIS needs.

State-of-the-art information management techniques are critical to the program’s effectiveness. Using proprietary software to create Supplier Profile Analysis, AGS enters the data in its computers and manages the entire process electronically. (Purchasing agents can always override the program by contacting an assigned AGS Expediter via Associated’s Nationwide Service Center or its web site.)

AGS provides real time information about shipping status, even enabling a company to track individual inbound shipments through the AGS web site using its own purchase order, item or vendor numbers. Additionally, AGS provides daily and monthly reports in the form most useful to the company.

"I know of no other transportation company with the coverage, resources and operating philosophy necessary to mount a program like this," says Norman Freeman, AGS founder/president.

Associated’s coverage starts with company-owned stations or partners in over 400 US cities and 205 countries, all available 24 x 7 for pickups and deliveries. Its resources include what is described as the world’s largest virtual fleet of aircraft, ships and ground vehicles, built and maintained through carefully crafted alliances and working relationships with every major carrier in the world.

Associated Global Systems Innovates Multi-Benefit
Inbound Shipping Program for Purchasing Managers

"Our coverage and our resources give us maximum options and flexibility in scheduling customers’ inbound shipments," says Freeman. "We can ship any weight, size or shape, any time of the day or night, to or from anywhere in the world, as quickly or as economically as our customer requires."

"Our philosophy has always been to win and keep customers with services and customized programs that work best for them, as opposed to off-the-shelf, one-size-fits-all solutions that might be easier or more profitable for us. Our new Inbound Procurement Program exemplifies this philosophy."
